The project is based in three great European Cities, Dublin, Barcelona, and Helsinki, which are specifying their requirements, contributing to the research and providing ‘City Laboratory’ test-bed sites in strategic development locations. 

The Cities work very closely with a University research centre associated with each: the Dublin Institute of Technology’s Digital Media Centre, the Fundació Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the University of Art and Design Helsinki’s Media Lab. These research centres are performing basic research into e-Community and usability; helping define the user and system requirements; carrying out RTD into enabling technologies, applications and software solutions; and conducting usability evaluations ‘City Laboratory’ Testbeds.

The company partners, Telefónica I+D, T-Systems and eSpatial Solutions, are developing new tools, providing communications architectures and system integration. Together they have all the skills and resources required to develop and integrate the necessary technologies, and to connect the existing City infrastructures to location-aware communications networks.
